And off she goes

Angel has returned to school; I was sad to see her go, I've gotten so used to spending the long summer days with her, laughing, playing, biking, just hanging out together.
She's no longer a baby; now that she's nearly 7, her evolution is fascinating : she is much more thoughtful, careful and caring. She's very funny too; but whereas I used to find her hilarious because of the baby things she used to do, now i find her hilarious because her humour truly is now humour. Although it may not be as yet fully formed; the seeds of her slightly sarcastic, quick wit are definitely there and she is more expressly slapstick, in a vaudeville way now.

She likes school; that is, she loves learning. She's quite shy and retiring, and very discreet. Friends she has, but perhaps due to the single-child syndrome, she prefers the company of adults. She asks 10 million questions about this and that; she's curious about life, the world, the universe and seems fully determined to learn as much as she can.

I spend as much time with her as possible, I always have. In fact, when I was still doing weekly concerts, I would always take her with me, no matter how late at night it could be. Some of you may not agree with me on this, but not only did I much prefer to have her with me, under my surveillance, I also wanted her to "be born" into art and music. And so she has; she is a musician, ballet dancer, actress and a little composer. She can spend hours in her room, writing down her songs in her little music diary. She's very proud of them, and will alternatively accompany herself on the piano, guitar or acapella, depending on her mood.

I am as fascinated watching her develop her own sense of art; I know that I was always a musician, but I don't remember that anyone else around me was very much interested in what I was doing. In other words, I had the feeling I was very much alone with my own artistry; I'd like Angel to feel like she is always in contact with art, music and beauty, and that all that she has to do is to look up and that I will be there to support and encourage her in whatever her art may be.

And whatever her life may be in fact. I know that as long as she is happy, I must be happy for her. I can be very protective; over protective. I know that I can stifle strangle those around me with my love; sometimes it can be wonderful to be with someone like me who can literally release tidal waves of love. But it can also be terribly over-powering and crushing; I'm learning to fine tune myself, whether with her or others that I love. Not easy, but I'm doing my best.

As a result, I make no projections as to what she will be in the future, nor what she will look like, nor what she will study, etc. I am so looking forward to seeing the woman she will be, but I also know that I must take advantage of every day. She's growing so fast, I savour every hug, every kiss, every baby laugh of hers, every time she's says "Mama" with her little girl voice.

I know all the battles that she will go through, and she will go through more that I have no idea about yet. But I know that she will be alright; I have to trust, otherwise, I will fear each day, each second for her. And I already do have the typical maternal worry, "Is she happy at school? I wonder what she's learning? I wonder what she's going to have for lunch?", if I let myself go to even more worrying...I'd never let her out of the house, much less out of my sight.

So being a mother has taught me this very important lesson ; you have to trust in life, and lay back let life take care of you, because you've just gotta know that life will always only take you places that are good. Places that may be hard, tough, horrible tough, but good. Because those tough places will teach you, and those beautiful places will also teach you.
In other words, life, or the way you submit to your own life, is nothing but the way you perceive it. If you go back to your heart, and stay inside your heart, then not only will you always be connected to love, but most of all, you'll be connected to the origin and birth place of love. And there's no better place to be in life, than where the love is and comes from.

And that's because, as an artist, I truly believe that love is the only truth that exists, that is worth fighting and dying for, that is the reason, cause and effect of all. Love of yourself, love of your family, love of your country,  humankind, your everything. Not belief nor dogma, but love.

I'm a dreamer; I'm always looking for the Rainbow Connection. It's not always easy I suppose living with someone like me; I try not to delude myself about the realities of life and this earth. But yes, I'm a lover, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

How can I be anything else, when my Angel hugs me and looks up at me with her eyes so pure and so full of life? I love life, and more so, I love my life; my Angel is my everything; my inspiration, my strength, my foundation, all my heart, so I can only love my heart and my life, and be thankful, everyday, for all the gifts that I receive. Gifts such as a smile, a burst of laughter, a drawing lovlingly made, a ray of sunlight that makes her eyes light up, the rain that makes her snuggle up to me close.

Every moment, we can either love life or run away from it. Whichever way, we can never hide from it. So we may as well laugh, treat life with tenderness and make our peace with the love that is.
